Okay, I’m hooked

I’ve always loved cycling, but never before have I had a bike like this:

And boy does it make a world of a difference.

Here’s my inaugural ride (excluding the night ride I did last week where I mostly couldn’t see where I was going):

The High Park loop was a lot of fun. The entire park is closed to cars on the weekends (though I understand that some people are upset about this feature).

I want to do a ride like this at least once a week, which means I’m probably going to need to get something from Pas Normal Studios to pad my ass. I’m also working my way up to clipless shoes.

Cycling is fun and Toronto is a great city for it.

Off-topic for this post – I ran into a German post covering modular construction in Europe, and thought perhaps this is up your alley:

    https://www.heise.de/news/Mancher-Bauingenieur-staunt-Modulares-Bauen-soll-Modernisierung-bringen-9242127.html

For the long form of the article, I believe one needs a subscription to one of Heise’s magazines.

This would appear to be the associated company site, with promotional video: https://www.daiwahousemodular.eu/en/

I wonder whether streamlined construction techniques like this are making any sorts of inroads in North America, or if in a place like Toronto perhaps actual construction costs have already taken a back seat compared to property costs and all the planning, approvals as well as development charges that are also often prominently featured on your blog. Given Toronto’s abandonment of mid-rises as a housing class, perhaps this kind of development wouldn’t even be feasible to build here?
